What Should You Name Your Pinterest Boards
What should you name your Pinterest boards? This is a question business owners and marketers are constantly asking themselves along with should your Pinterest board titles be:
Cute Pinterest board names?
Creative Pinterest board names?
How to come up with Pinterest board name ideas?
Naming your boards is an important part of creating a successful Pinterest strategy, and there are a few things you need to keep in mind when naming them.
In this blog post, we'll give you some tips on how to choose the best names for your Pinterest boards.
First off, let me explain why use Pinterest for your business as an online marketing strategy.
Using a search engine like Pinterest with an internet marketing strategy is a powerful method for any business.
You're making it simpler for customers to discover your business by showing up in search results.
If your company is only relying on social media to build your business, you're losing out on a potential of 61% of consumers who are using search engines to help them in product research before making a purchase.
To ensure that your business appears in search results, you need to create content for search engines like Google, Youtube, and Pinterest.
If you've heard of Pinterest, you're undoubtedly familiar with boards, which are key components of any Pinterest marketing plan. You can write a blog post or upload a video which you can pin on Pinterest.
And when it comes to Pinterest boards, you should be strategic in naming and managing them. I've been on a lot of group boards and I've seen a lot of mistakes that Pinterest users do in managing boards. From creating boards to choosing board names, you need to take the right steps to get more traffic for your Pinterest account. I have another helpful blog about other information about Pinterest boards that are not covered here.
How to create Pinterest Board Names
Don't Use Random Pinterest Board Names
The first mistake to avoid is choosing random Pinterest board titles. While making your Pinterest board, you likely have come up with a lot of board name ideas. If your Pinterest board name is about recipes but the actual content is all about bathroom decor art, then it won't perform well. You need to make sure that Pinterest SEO will favor your content.
Use long-tail keywords
Pinterest boards need to be properly named so people can easily find your content. You don't want it to be just a random keyword or just the main keyword. A long-tail keyword is basically the more niche-specific keyword. So how do you find the right keywords for your board names?
Use the Pinterest search function! To know what long-tail keywords to use, go to your Pinterest home feed and click on the search bar. Type niche-related keywords and look at the search results that will appear. The extra words that show up underneath in that search bar are called long-tail keywords. You want to find keywords that are specific and relevant to the niche of your board.
Don't Leave Your Pinterest Boards Empty
You also don't want to just name something and then never use the board. You have to post content and then pin that content to that board. Don't just name a board to name a board because it will not actually do your Pinterest profile any good. If you don't have any pins on that board, it can hurt your profile a little bit.
After making and naming a Pinterest board, it'll actually give you suggested content. Pin a few suggestions including the ones that aren't your content. You don't want that board sitting empty for very long so choose a few things that are related to your content or related to what your target audience might like. You can also add your new pins or existing pins to your boards.
Creating a Pinterest Board
Now that you know the don'ts for naming Pinterest boards. It's time to create a board cover!
Canva is a great tool for designing images for Pinterest. A Pinterest board cover is actually just a 500x500 square image. You just need to create a very simple board cover that encapsulates everything about your brand such as including your logo. You don't need a lot of information on this board cover since it'll get too distracting. Once you're done, upload it on Pinterest.
Adding a board cover
To add a cover to your board, go to your Pinterest profile. There are two tabs shown: created and saved. Under the Saved tab, you will see all of your boards and a plus arrow for adding new boards and pins. To add your board cover, hover your cursor over your board and hit the edit sign. If you click on the plus sign under the board cover, you will see that you have to choose among the pins added to that board. So, you need to pin the board cover on that board first, then set it up as a cover.
Having a board cover helps people to have a summary of what's inside that Pinterest board. As a Pinterest strategist, I sometimes get more clicks and impressions on a board cover that I saved to that board than I do on pins that I've saved on that board.
